Tuesday marked the first day of my second trimester. Woohoo! I have many different emotions right now, but the one I have been feeling the most is thankful.
Who knew that your second trimester starts at 14 weeks? I always thought it would have started at 13 weeks, considering 12 weeks is three months. However, if you divide 40 weeks by three, you get 13.333..., making a trimester 14 weeks long.
Well, we have made it. We aren't quite to 40 weeks yet, but I feel a little accomplishment in making it past my first trimester.
I am going to be brutally honest with you, and I apologize to all the mommas out there who did not experience this, but my first trimester was somewhat of a breeze.
Besides getting over the worry of miscarrying, I was blessed with a very calm and easy first trimester. I did not get sick. In fact, I ate a lot (and even gained 10 pounds...yikes!). I was really tired, had some occasional headaches, and my boobs felt like they were going to fall off. That's about it.
This Thanksgiving, I am reflecting on how incredibly grateful I am to be pregnant and have what seems to be a perfectly normal and healthy pregnancy so far.
I am already itching to work on the nursery, but we will wait until after the holidays are over to begin putting it together. We have already moved out the furniture that doesn't belong and I have started to dream about nursery themes and colors.
We are planning to find out Baby J's gender at the beginning of January. Seth is 90% sure that we are having a GIRL, but I always thought my first child would be a BOY. However, if I had to guess, I think Baby is a she too. We can't wait to find out!
Wishing everyone a happy, safe and peaceful Thanksgiving. May you eat lots of turkey, stuffing and mashed potatoes and have room for seconds!
